[Updated] Invitation to the MyData 2019 conference held in Helsinki, Finland, on September 25-27.

 


The fourth annual conference, dedicated to rebuilding trust for human-centered data economy is organised by the award-winning MyData Global nonprofit and held in Helsinki, Finland, on September 25-27.

Media representatives are welcome to the MyData 2019 conference for free. We have three special events for you, and also encourage you to join the whole event to discover thought-provoking news stories. More information on the three events found below.

During MyData 2019 we give you the chance to meet and talk to changemakers, entrepreneurs, activists, academics, large corporations, public agencies, and developers. Interesting names include 

  1. Grammy-award winning Imogen Heap

  2. Carole Cadwalladr, Journalist for the Guardian Observer behind the Cambridge Analytica investigation, 

  3. James Farrar, famous for the UK labour law case against Uber - The decision was described as a "monumental victory" for some 40,000 drivers in England and Wales,

  4. Jessikka Aro, an investigative journalist (YLE) who won the Bonnier Journalism Prize in 2016 for her research about pro-Russia trolls in Finland,

  5. Alexander Stubb, the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank and former Prime Minister of Finland,

  6. EXTRA TIP: There will certainly be some interesting discussions about the future of personal data with the representatives from Google.

A Panel discussion with Carole Cadwalladr (The Guardian), Paul-Olivier Dehaye (PersonalData.IO, MyData Global), Jessikka Aro (YLE) and Cecilia Álvarez (Facebook)

The panel will happen after a screening of The Great Hack Netflix documentary - a movie about the Cambridge Analytica scandal on Thursday 25th September at 15:50 - 16:30 

The panel’s topic: “How to rebuild the trust in the era of scandals, data breaches and data misuse.”

  • Cecilia Álvarez Rigaudias is the EMEA Privacy Policy Director at Facebook

  • Jessikka Aro, investigative journalist (YLE), won the Bonnier Journalism Prize for her research about pro-Russia trolls in Finland

  • Paul-Olivier Dahaye, founder of Personaldata.IO focusing on making data protection rights useful, he appears in the Great Hack movie and is also a board member of MyData Global

MyData 2019 is an official side event of Finland’s EU Presidency period, and the concept was included in the new Finnish Government Programme. During the cocktail hour you will see short examples on how Finland is supporting new global data solutions in a sustainable way.
